Wed, 27 Sept 2006 08:00:00 EST:  Premade Libraries Pricing Structure Changed

Story Photo

Amplicon Express has recently changed the way it prices it's premade BAC libraries to allow you, the researcher, more flexibility and options based on your current research needs.

Instead of needing to purchase a complete library copy before additional services are available, you can now purchase any service associated with one of our premade BAC libraries such as nylon filters, pools and superpools, or even plating and picking of individual clones.

If you are looking for a particular service that is not found with one of our premade libraries, please contact Robert Bogden with your request.

Thurs, 14 Sept 2006 08:00:00 EST:  Amplicon Express' Newest Service: BAC-MAPS - Strategy for Screening Very Large Genomes

Story Photo

We're always looking to the future at Amplicon Express, and after much hard work and planning, we are proud to introduce our newest product/service line: BAC-MAPS.

The BACMAPS (BAC Minimally Amplified Pooling Strategy) system enables researchers to use PCR for screening a BAC library constructed from an organism with a very large genome, typically larger than 15 Gb. Since the expense of picking millions of clones may be cost prohibitive, we have developed a system allowing screening of millions of clones with a few (48-384) PCR experiments and then following those results (a 'hit') to another plate and screening that second plate DNA by a another round of 96 PCR experiments. This second round PCR identifies a well that contains your BAC clone of interest as well as other BAC clones. The exact plate and well position containing your BAC clone of interest, together with 25-35 other BAC clones (or up to 80 in special cases) can be correctly identified in 192 PCR experiments. Following identification of the specific plate and well position, the specific well is thawed, mixed, and plated on selective media for picking of individual clones.

To learn more about this innovative and cost-effective technology, visit our BAC-MAPS page, and you can even request an online quote. To speak with a trained scientist about this new product line, please contact Robert Bogden

We've got more products coming later in the year, so keep your eyes on our news page!

Fri, 7 Sept 2006 08:00:00 EST:  Fall 2006 Developments

Story Photo

It has been quite a while since our last update, mostly because everyone here at Amplicon Express has been so busy. In every area, from BAC libraries to DNA sequencing, we've had a constant demand for services, and we are of course always more than happy to help out our clients.

With that in mind, one might wonder why Amplicon Express is in the near future going to be offering two new product/service lines. Although we can't really disclose any of the details of these product lines yet, there is no rule against creating a buzz and making the industry anticipate what our next venture might be. Keep your eyes on this news section and look for more information from us in the following months, and we'll release more information when it becomes available.

Besides good, steady business, we've added a number of premade BAC libraries to our growing list as well as making this list sortable. The instructions on the page will tell you how to sort the libraries.

If you're a Sequencing Certificate Holder, you'll notice that we've added a couple of features to our online services such as the ability to download a current spreadsheet of your certificate's transaction history as well as re-formatting the page layout to make it a little easier to read.

Fri, 21 Apr 2006 08:00:00 EST:  Vector Database Massively Expanded

Story Photo

We have recently expanded our vector database to include nearly 1000 additional vector sequences. Since there are now so many vectors available on our website, we have added a search feature to the vector page, as well as the ability to select 10, 25, or 50 viewable results per page.

As always, if you don't find a vector you're looking for, or if you'd like to submit your own vector map or vector sequence, please send your submissionto Robert Bogden

In other news, the SSL issue of last month has been resolved, and all secured parts of our website should be working properly.

Tue, 21 Mar 2006 08:00:00 EST:  Moved to Fiber Optic Connection and SSL Issues

Story Photo

Amplicon Express recently upgraded its internet infrastructure to include a fiber optic connection coming into our building. In doing so, we were required to change the IP addresses of our servers, which has temporarily interrupted service to the secure (https://) portions of our website.

We are currently in contact with our secure certificate provider and hope to have the issue resolved within a couple of days. Meanwhile, if you have any questions related to the secure portions of our website, please contact Robert Bogden

Thur, 19 Jan 2006 08:00:00 EST:  Sterilization Vaccine for Cattle

Story Photo

In September of 2004, Amplicon Express presented a Power Point presentation of an injectable, reversible, sterilization vaccine for cattle. Recently, we have compiled newer additional information from this ongoing study, and are presenting it in the Power Point presentation and Quicktime Movie file links below.

In conjunction with Dr. Jerry Reeves of Washington State University, John Carter of the Esperanca Ranch, and Dr. Hugo of the Colorado Ranch (ranches are located in the Mato Grosso region of Brazil), Amplicon Express has worked to determine if the LHRH vaccine is a cost effective and humane alternative to castration in cattle.

Based on the results of the study, Amplicon Express is currently seeking to sublicense the technology to a firm capable of bringing this vaccine to market in food chain animals. All Intellectual Property associated with this vaccine is exclusively licensed to Amplicon (willing to sublicense on exclusive basis), and interested firms should contact Robert Bogden at 1-509-332-8080 ext. 24.

Tue, 08 Nov 2005 08:00:00 EST:  RSS Feed Added and More!

Story Photo

It looks like the 'What's New' page hasn't been working for a while - our apologies to you and the webmaster for keeping him so busy with DNA sequencing these last couple of months, not that we complain when business is good!

This page has since been recoded and will now even allow you to view any of the updates we've had in the past, by the self-explanatory buttons below the title. Anyways, onto the updates...

We have recently added a vector trimming/masking tool to our website that is pretty easy to use. We are working on getting the tool up to the same performance as the cross_match program, and it works fairly well, though we're still correcting a couple of known issues. Also, if you try doing a lot of sequence masking/trimming at once, you may get a slow response time, as the server is getting worked pretty hard nowadays due to the increased traffice we're getting to the site. We'll be upgrading to a newer webserver next year, and should see improved speeds and performance with that addition.

You've probably already noticed that we've changed the face of our homepage to make it a little easier to find the links our clients are most interested in.

Along with the changes to our homepage, we've now made it easy for you to get the latest news from Amplicon Express via the orange RSS button you'll be seeing on some of our web pages. Simply add our feed to your favorite RSS news reader, such as Amphetadesk or SharpReader and you'll be able to read the latest Amplicon Express news on your computer desktop.

Finally, plans on the website for the future include adding a weblog whereby users can comment on current biotechnology, medical, and other science related issues that are hot topics in the news.
